Guest Lecture for the Food & Beverage Service Steward trainees of Sabbavaram

To enhance the skills of the trainees of Hospitality trade, to retain their jobs, Don Bosco Tech, Sabbavaram center conducted a guest lecture for the Food & Beverage Service - Steward domain on January 27, 2020. The center was privileged to have a dynamic personality Mr. Ravi (Senior Steward, Hotel Rize Comfort, Visakhapatnam). Mr. Ravi, an alumnus of Don Bosco Tech, Sabbavaram was happy to have come back to address to inspire the trainees of alma mater.
Ms. Ramalaxmi (Trainer, Hospitality) introduced Mr. Ravi to the trainees while extending a warm welcome. He addressed the trainees with great pleasure. He, in the first place, built-up rapport with the trainees while he asked them their introduction with the quality/s they are aware of themselves. Thereafter, he narrated his life journey from nowhere to a senior steward.
Mr. Ravi explained the hotel industry and its departments; Front Office, Food and Beverage Service, Food and Beverage Production, and House Keeping. Later he also explained the sub-departments in a Hotel Industry.
Cutting across hospitality, he also briefed on how to prepare and face an interview. One of the skills he mentioned as tips was the importance of grooming; be it appearance or courteous behavior.
Mr. Ravi also insisted on the trainees’ utmost care be given to the guest from the moment they step in to leave the Hotel. He also clearly explained the cooking procedures and techniques of a few important dishes. Having explained this, he moved on to explain the employment opportunities in this industry.
The resource person urged the trainees to treat the guest with the utmost respect; even without tips and other benefits.
Mr. Ravi concluded his speech with an inspiring quote from Danielle Bernock ‘Bloom wherever you are Planted’.
At the end of the session Sr. Rani thanked Mr. Ravi for sharing his thoughts with the trainees to shine bright in their future.
