Don Bosco Tech- Sabbavaram conducted a field visit to Power Station for the trainees of Accenture Phase_10 Batch-2 on November 11, 2019. The reason for taking the trainees for the field visit was to gain practical knowledge to enhance their skills in electrical department by showing them the house wiring and plumbing work, and also to have the experience to understand the hard work of the people who are working in electrical department.

The major advantage of including field visit in the curriculum is to acquire practical knowledge on classroom learnt subject. Knowledge is neither limited nor little, it is an ocean and cannot be confined to the single class room. Hence, it is significant for the trainees to grasp the knowledge from practical experiences. Practical act is the symbol of remembrance more than oral listening to stick on their professional career.

The trainees were accompanied by the trainers. They reached the village by 10.00am in the morning and Mr. Chennakesavulu (Electrical Trainer) took more initiative to have the practical learning experience. The trainees were first taken to the house where the power station workers were doing the house wiring and plumbing. Trainees were asked to take initiative to help the workers in wiring and plumbing. It helped them to have a practical experience.

After the practical session, the students were briefed of the various sections of the work and tools. The trainers took a special note to explain about each electrical tools and tools was shown and explained to them. Finally, a question and answer session provided good insight into the operations and machines of this important work. It was a significant opportunity for the trainees of Electrical to gain practical experience of visiting the village electrical pipe line work and acquire knowledge about the practical applications of their classroom based study.

After this house wiring and plumbing session, the students were taken to the power plant in Sabbavaram. Here, the head of the power station explained to the students about the functioning of the power station. He also conducted an hour of lecture followed by an hour of practical session. The students were asked to operate the power station with the help of the supervisors. They were also instructed what to do in power related work and what actions to take when they work in work field and in case any issue happened in electrical field. The head of the power plant also explained to the students about the safety measures to be followed and to how to act emergency situations.

After everything, the trainees were asked to raise questions and doubts. Many trainees had many doubts and certain questions which were answered by the head of the power station. The students were satisfied after the visit. They could acquire some much of practical Knowledge by conducting these exposures visit which will be helps them to stick on their jobs.
