Don Bosco Tech Kollam has organized a guest lecture session on the topic 'Basic Indian constitution 'on Basic Aug 11, 2022, for the current CRM Domestic Non-voice trainees of Batch 220282. Among the speakers were Mr. Sajeev Soman, Kollam Corporation Councilor, and Ms. Mini Stephen, Kollam Corporation faculty member.

Mr. Godwin A, CRM Domain Trainer, welcomed the guest & delivered the introduction Speech on the Indian Constitution. Godwin informed the trainees that as an Indian citizen, understanding our Constitution and fundamental rights is of utmost importance. The Constitution is the Supreme law of a Nation. The Indian Constitution is the lengthiest & detailed constitutional document the world has so far produced.

Inaugurating the guest lecture session, trainers, guests, and trainees paid tribute to the framers of the Constitution, stating their contributions.

Ms.Mini gave an insight into the basics of constitutions, the constituent Assembly, and the preamble.

She pointed out that the constitution Indian republic is the product of Research & deliberations of a body of eminent representatives of the people assembled in the Sovereign Constituent Assembly. The committee analysed over 60 countries before finalizing the final draft of the Constitution. it is crafted based on the knowledge obtained from the continuous fight for independence. The Constitution was compiled after a thorough search of all known constitutions from around the world, and many of its provisions are borrowed from others. even if it is a ' patchwork ', It is a 'beautiful patchwork'.

The preamble summarises the aims and objectives of the Indian Constitution. It indicates the source from which the constitution derives its authority. It also states the objects that the constitution seeks to establish and promote.

She concluded her lecture by stating that the Constitution of India declares our nation as a democratic republic and assures equality, liberty, and fraternity. The adoption of the Indian constitution has played a very important role in establishing India as a sovereign, secular and socialist nation.

Mr. Sajeev pointed out that a Democracy in any sense, cannot be established unless certain minimal rights, which are essential for a free and Civilised existence, are assured to every member of the community. The preamble mentions these essential individual rights as,

 i) Right to equality ii) Right to freedom iii) Right against exploitation iv) Right to freedom of Religion v) Cultural & educational rights vi) Right to constitutional remedies.

He also emphasized on equality of everyone before the law. It is useless to guarantee certain rights to each individual unless all inequality is eradicated from the Social Structure and every individual has equal status and opportunity to develop his best self and has the means to enforce his rights.

In the end, guests congratulated the participants for their enthusiasm.

The trainees felt proud to be Indian citizens because of this.
