On June 5, 2024, Don Bosco Tech Kollam celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm, hosting a series of engaging activities that captured the essence of environmental conservation. The event commenced with an inspiring inaugural speech by Fr. Stephen Mukkattil, the Rector of Quilon Don Bosco Tech Society. He eloquently underscored the significance of World Environment Day and the imperative need for environmental preservation.

A symbolic moment followed the inauguration as Fr. Stephen Mukkattil received a plant from Fr. Thomas Kattilparambil, the centre director, who then ceremoniously planted a seedling on the center's grounds. This act not only marked the day's theme but also highlighted the ongoing commitment to nurturing nature.

The trainees were organized into four dynamic teams to participate in activities focused on the theme "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience." Demonstrating a strong commitment to a clean and healthy environment, the teams began the day by thoroughly cleaning classrooms and surrounding areas. This initiative fostered a sense of community and responsibility among the trainees.

Following the cleanup, group discussions were held, where participants delved into environmental challenges and brainstormed innovative solutions. These discussions culminated in the creation of impactful and memorable slogans, resonating with the day's theme and advocating for environmental stewardship.

In addition, the trainees showcased their artistic talents through the creation of posters, expressing the theme of "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience" with creativity and depth. The posters not only reflected their passion for environmental protection but also conveyed vital messages about sustainability and conservation.

Throughout the day, the trainees exhibited a remarkable sense of environmental responsibility and awareness. Their active participation and creative contributions highlighted the importance of both individual and collective actions in safeguarding our planet for future generations.

The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by CRM student Ms. Bijitha. In her poignant address, she emphasized the urgent need for environmental awareness and the importance of adopting sustainable practices. Her speech served as a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to care for the ecosystem and preserve it for generations to come.

Don Bosco Tech Kollam's observance of World Environment Day 2024 was not only a celebration but also an educational and inspiring experience, reinforcing the crucial message of environmental conservation and the power of collective action.
