We were delighted to welcome Mr. Amit Das, Senior Chef de Partie at Dinner 49 B (Jodhpur Park), to Don Bosco Nitika on December 3rd. Mr. Das visited to share his journey of success in the hotel industry and to inspire the young minds of ITC East 2019-20, Batch 7 & 8 students, who were feeling uncertain about their upcoming two-month hospitality management course. The guest lecture was attended by 52 enthusiastic candidates.

Mr. Das, with his extensive experience in the hotel industry, engaged with the students, imparting valuable knowledge to aid their future endeavors. He emphasized the irreplaceable value of hard work, asserting that it is the sole path to success. He advised the candidates to focus on gaining knowledge and experience in their specific departments, while also remaining open to learning about other areas within the hotel or restaurant. According to Mr. Das, this comprehensive knowledge is key to achieving prestigious positions in the industry.

To illustrate his point, he shared his own struggles and achievements, highlighting how his dedication and continuous learning led him to the position of Senior CDP. His career allowed him to work with various renowned restaurants, each experience broadening his expertise and insights into the hotel industry. He encouraged the trainees to set clear goals, as having a target in life helps drive success.

Mr. Das also provided a practical comparison between working in a hotel and a restaurant, noting that while the earnings potential is higher in restaurants due to quicker increments, both paths require the same dedication and hard work. His clear and relatable message resonated with the students, who actively participated in a short discussion session following the lecture, asking questions and clearing their doubts about the workplace.

The students expressed their gratitude to Mr. Das and the trainers for organizing such an enlightening guest lecture. It significantly boosted their confidence and motivation. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from one of the trainees, who acknowledged Mr. Das's valuable time and insights. As a token of appreciation, gifts were presented to Mr. Das, marking the end of a truly inspiring and informative session.
