FIELD VISIT IN BAREQUE NATION

The most inspiring and motivational field visit was organized for the students of ITC EAST 2019-20, Batch 7 & 8 candidates on 11th December, 2019 in Barbeque Nation, Lake Mall Outlet. Barbeque Nation is a renowned restaurant in Kolkata (West Bengal). This field visit was mainly arranged to expose the students to the ambience of a big restaurant. Altogether 54 candidates attended the field visit.
Barbeque Nation is an Indian restaurant chain owned by Indore-based Sayaji Hotels Limited. The first restaurant was opened in Mumbai in January 2006. The restaurant chain also has a private equity firm CX Partners as its investor. Shortly after it started in Mumbai, it extended its outlets in other cities like Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Bangalore, Lucknow, Chennai, Coimbatore, Pune, Panjim, Kolkata, Kochi, Kanpur, Guwahati and Bhubaneswar.
Mr. Bittu Patra, the HR in Barbeque Nation along with the Manager conducted an interactive session for the candidates to display the student’s intake from the theory and practical sessions. He along with few other staff members demonstrated the table set up and kitchen apparatus. The team showed them the kitchen area and also went through its various departments. They even briefed the candidates about room service and how to take order for room service. Moreover seeing the visual set up of a restaurant, the students became more confident and they were very happy to learn the minute details of a restaurant.
Above all, the executive authorities of the restaurant do uphold the skilling program of DB TECH supported by ITC. Mr. Bittu Patra shared the successful journey of DB Tech students in Barbeque Nation family. He mentioned that the endeavour of retaining candidates from DB Tech is at smooth run since 4 years and there are some candidates who have emerged as the best employees in different outlets of Barbeque Nation. Few former students from Don Bosco Nitika presently working in BBQ had also got the opportunity to share their work experience with the present Batch Trainees.
Thus, on the whole the field visit in Barbeque Nation proved to be very fruitful for all the students as it boosted their morale and helped them to gather knowledge about the minute details in a restaurant.
