The birth anniversary of Bhagawan Birsa Munda, celebrated on 15 November 2025, became a vibrant and unforgettable occasion across Hooghly district as the Government of West Bengal hosted a three-day cultural and sports Mela spanning 15 districts. The celebration paid tribute not only to Birsa Munda’s enduring legacy, but also to the spirit, culture, and aspirations of tribal communities across the state.

Don Bosco Tech Society was honored to participate at three major venues in Hooghly, thanks to the support and invitation extended by Mr. Tapas Biswas, District Welfare Officer. The Don Bosco Tech team joined the celebrations at Bijoy Narayan College Hostel in Pandua, Gangadharpur Ground in Balagarh, and Kathalya Ground in Polba, transforming the event into an engaging platform for learning, exposure, and community participation.

Representing the Don Bosco Tech State Team were Augustin Tesra (Assistant Manager – State Operations), Sudipto Malakar (State Finance), Koushik Roy (State MIS & ITC Project Coordinator), and Nipa Gain (Centre Manager, Kuntighat), who were accompanied by enthusiastic staff members and trainees from the Kuntighat Centre, a collaborative initiative of Don Bosco Tech Society and ITC Mission Sunehra Kal.

Each venue buzzed with energy as visitors and participants enjoyed a colorful blend of traditional performances, sporting competitions, and awareness activities. From lively music and dance to community welfare initiatives, the Mela offered something for everyone. Don Bosco Tech set up an informative outreach stall, engaging with government officials, community influencers, and local families to showcase the impactful skill-development programs run at the Kuntighat Training Centre. Many curious visitors stepped in to learn about vocational opportunities, making the stall a lively hub of conversations and future possibilities.

The inauguration of all three Melas was held on 15 November, with the Pandua venue receiving special attention. Distinguished guests, including MP Rachana Banerjee and MLA Ratna Dey, graced the event and encouraged the youth to make the most of development and training opportunities available to them.

For Don Bosco Tech Society, this celebration was more than an event — it was a meaningful opportunity to strengthen community ties, highlight ongoing training initiatives, and experience first-hand the cultural richness and pride of the region. Looking ahead, the organization hopes to build on the relationships and goodwill formed over these three days, paving the way for more collaborative development initiatives in Hooghly and beyond.
