On 12 December 2025, Don Bosco Tech Society organized an enriching field visit for Batch 250301 (B5) of the Housekeeping Assistant course to the iconic Taj Bengal, Kolkata. A total of 11 students participated in this immersive learning experience, designed to bridge classroom learning with real-world hospitality operations.
The visit offered students a comprehensive insight into the inner workings of a luxury hotel. Under the guidance of Ms. Tisha Sen, Training Executive at Taj Bengal, the students were introduced to the various departments that seamlessly come together to deliver exceptional guest experiences. They gained valuable understanding of professional conduct in public areas, the importance of body language, and the standards of grooming and etiquette expected in the hospitality industry.
Students explored some of the hotel’s renowned restaurants, including Cal 27 and Souk, learning about their unique concepts and culinary specialities. The visit also included a walkthrough of prominent banquet spaces such as Portico and Crystal, where students were briefed on their capacities, layouts, and the diverse purposes they serve for guests and events. An overview of the laundry department further helped students appreciate the behind-the-scenes operations that ensure comfort, hygiene, and efficiency.
The session was highly interactive, allowing students to ask questions, observe operations closely, and connect theory with practice. Overall, the field visit proved to be an insightful and inspiring experience, giving students a realistic perspective on how hotels function and how a true WOW experience is thoughtfully created for every guest.
