Organized by Don Bosco Tech – Monsada, a group of Guest Service Associate trainees from Batch B3 (250213) embarked on an eye-opening industrial visit to Hotel Haveli in Krishnanagar on 14th July 2025. Under the guidance of visit coordinators Mr. Provakar Majumder and Mr. Prokash Halder, this experience marked an essential milestone in the professional journey of these aspiring hospitality professionals.

The visit was thoughtfully designed to give trainees firsthand exposure to the realities of front office management and guest services—two core pillars of the hotel industry. It provided a unique opportunity to observe live hotel operations and understand how hospitality professionals handle real-time guest interactions, from check-in to check-out, with finesse and professionalism.

The day began with a warm reception by the hotel’s Training Manager, followed by a concise orientation session. Trainees were introduced to the hotel’s operational ethos, service standards, and its journey in the hospitality sector. This opening set the tone for what would become an inspiring and highly educational experience.

A guided property tour took the trainees through the hotel’s key operational zones, including the reception area, concierge desk, guest lounge, restaurant, business center, and back-office departments. This provided them with a clear view of how different departments function in harmony to deliver seamless guest experiences.

The highlight of the visit was a detailed session conducted by the Front Office Manager. This session brought classroom concepts to life, as trainees learned about the real-world application of front office procedures such as reservation handling, room allocation, and guest billing. The use of Property Management System (PMS) software was demonstrated, giving the trainees hands-on insight into tools they will likely use in their careers. The manager also explained how different departments coordinate to manage service delivery efficiently, especially in challenging situations like guest complaints or unexpected room changes.

In addition to observing live guest interactions, the trainees engaged in an interactive session with the hotel’s guest service team. These seasoned professionals shared valuable insights on essential industry skills such as personal grooming, effective body language, time management, and communication techniques. They also recounted personal experiences and challenges, offering a human perspective to the demanding yet rewarding world of hospitality.

The visit concluded with a vibrant question-and-answer session. The trainees asked thoughtful questions about career growth, handling difficult guests, and best practices for upselling hotel services—reflecting their growing curiosity and engagement with the profession.

By the end of the day, the trainees walked away with more than just notes; they gained a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Guest Service Associate in today’s fast-paced hospitality landscape. They saw firsthand the value of professionalism, the importance of teamwork, and the skill of balancing efficiency with empathy.

This visit proved to be a transformative learning experience. It allowed trainees to connect theory with practice, develop a stronger sense of purpose, and build confidence for their upcoming internships and future roles in the industry. Most importantly, it inspired them to strive for excellence in every guest interaction they will handle.

Team Monsada extends heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Hotel Haveli for their generosity and willingness to share their knowledge. Experiences like these are at the heart of Don Bosco Tech Society’s mission—to empower youth with the skills, exposure, and inspiration they need to thrive in their careers.
