On 25th August 2025, Don Bosco Tech Monsada had the privilege of hosting an enlightening guest lecture by Mr. Debanjan Sarkar, a dedicated Sales Executive from HDFC Bank. This session was part of the institute’s ongoing initiative to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry practices, providing students with insights that go beyond textbooks.
Mr. Sarkar began the session by guiding trainees through the fundamentals of banking, starting with the process of opening a bank account. He explained the critical role of KYC documents such as Aadhaar and PAN cards, photographs, and proof of address, and clarified the distinctions between Savings and Current accounts, helping students understand which account types best suit their needs. The discussion then moved to account maintenance and the importance of managing minimum balances, highlighting how disciplined financial habits can lead to better opportunities and benefits within the banking system.
The lecture also delved into the various loan facilities offered by HDFC Bank. Mr. Sarkar shared valuable insights into personal loans for emergencies, education loans for higher studies, home loans for purchasing or constructing homes, and business loans for entrepreneurs. He emphasized eligibility criteria, interest rates, repayment options, and the significance of maintaining a good credit history. Through practical examples, he demonstrated how financial planning and discipline can help individuals achieve their long-term goals.
In addition to traditional banking, the session explored the growing role of digital banking. Mr. Sarkar introduced trainees to mobile banking apps, internet banking, UPI, and online transactions, emphasizing how technology simplifies financial management, enhances security, and saves time. He encouraged students to embrace digital practices, noting that the future of banking is increasingly technology-driven.
The interactive nature of the session made it particularly engaging. Trainees asked thought-provoking questions such as the minimum balance requirements for savings accounts, steps for applying for education loans, consequences of delayed loan repayment, and digital banking safety for those new to technology. Mr. Sarkar responded with patience and shared real-life examples, making complex banking concepts accessible and relatable.
The lecture left a lasting impression on the students, equipping them with essential financial knowledge and highlighting the importance of early financial literacy. Trainees learned how proper documentation, awareness of loan options, and disciplined money management can pave the way for personal and professional success. They also gained a deeper understanding of the soft skills required in banking, including communication, trust-building, and customer service.
The session by Mr. Debanjan Sarkar was more than a lecture; it was an inspiring experience that encouraged students to take charge of their financial futures responsibly. Don Bosco Tech Monsada extends heartfelt gratitude to HDFC Bank and to Mr. Sarkar for dedicating his time and expertise. Events like these strengthen the institute’s mission of preparing young minds not just with technical skills, but with practical knowledge and insights that are invaluable in the real world.
