Introduction
As part of the skill development and placement readiness program, DB Tech Monsada organized an Industrial Visit to Teleperformance, Kolkata for the Web Developer trainees. The visit was coordinated by Ms. Mou Mam with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to the corporate work environment, industry expectations, recruitment processes, and career opportunities available in the IT-enabled services sector. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world workplace requirements while enhancing students' employability skills.
Visit Description
Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by the Teleperformance team and introduced to the company's operations, workplace culture, and various employment opportunities. The representatives explained the significance of professionalism, communication skills, teamwork, customer handling, and adaptability in a corporate setting.
A detailed interaction session was conducted by Ms. Nandita, who provided valuable insights into the nature of the work carried out at Teleperformance. She explained various customer support processes, including Amazon Voice Process, Non-Voice Process, and Chat Support Services. Students gained an understanding of how customer queries are handled professionally through calls, emails, and chat platforms.
Ms. Nandita also discussed the importance of relocation flexibility, explaining that candidates may be required to work in different locations depending on business requirements and available opportunities. She highlighted the benefits of being open to relocation for career growth and exposure.
An interactive Group Discussion (GD) session was conducted to assess the students' communication skills, confidence, teamwork, leadership qualities, and ability to express ideas effectively. The students actively participated in the discussion and demonstrated enthusiasm throughout the session.
The recruitment team then conducted a screening interview and assessment session. Students were asked various banking-related questions to evaluate their general awareness, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Special emphasis was placed on communication skills, particularly English-to-Hindi translation, verbal fluency, listening skills, and clarity of expression. The interviewers evaluated the students' ability to communicate effectively, understand instructions, and respond professionally to different situations.
Many students performed confidently during the interaction and received positive feedback from the recruitment team. Several candidates were shortlisted and invited to participate in the next stage of the recruitment process scheduled for the following week. This opportunity greatly motivated the trainees and provided them with a realistic understanding of industry hiring practices.
Throughout the visit, students were encouraged to ask questions regarding career growth, workplace expectations, job responsibilities, and skill requirements. The interaction helped them gain a deeper understanding of the competencies required to succeed in today's competitive job market.
