Don Bosco Tech - Sambalpur Center arranged the 2nd guest lecturer session for Mushroom Grower job role (Batch - 4), of Accenture - 12 on December 14, 2022. The designated topic for the above-mentioned session was “Production of various types of mushrooms in a different season of the year”. The guest lecture began with a welcome address by the domain trainer Mr. Dillip Kumar Behera. He introduced and welcomed Mr. Balbir Bariha from Bablu Mushroom farm to deliver the lecture.

Mr. Balbir deliberated completely on various aspects, factors, and types of mushrooms to be grown in different seasons of the year. There are mainly three different types of mushrooms grown in India namely oyster mushrooms, paddy straw mushrooms, and button mushrooms. All these mushrooms are of commercial importance they are grown over different techniques, and methods. To succeed in the commercial mushroom growing sector, the following factors must be taken into consideration before beginning mushroom farming:

He advised for successful participation and monitoring purposes, the mushroom farm should be located closer to the farmer's home due to the availability of abundance of water presence. Simple access to raw materials at affordable costs in the area and simple access to workers at less expensive costs & availability of power at affordable rates, as electricity is a crucial component in the growth of mushrooms as per your chosen different mushrooms cultivation. The farm should be free of industrial pollution like chemical vapors and sewage disposal. The farm should have enough space for expansion in the future period of time. He emphasized the trainees about the importance of self-employment and its value addition to a family in terms of livelihood.

In the part of the session, trainees interacted with the session with keen interest and raised questions about how to make a career in the field of cultivation of mushrooms. Mr. Balbir also gave a few tips on how to prevent spillage during the process of production. Trainees were very enthusiastic and energetic throughout the session. Mr. Balbir was very amazed by the participation and interest showed by the participants in the program.

Mr. Balbir summed up the session by answering queries and deliberating on the enormous scope for self-employment leading to a decent livelihood for a mushroom grower. The session ended with a hearty thanks to Mr. Balbir by support domain trainer Mr. Sarada Prasad Nanda in appreciation for taking the time out to educate the trainees.
