Don Bosco Tech Sambalpur arranged an exposure visit to Sahoo Mushroom Farm Sindurpank, Sambalpur for the betterment of the professional ethics of trainees. Visit was accompanied by Mr. Dillip Kumar Behera along with the Mushroom Grower trainees of Batch-05, on November 11, 2023, which helped them to dream their growth and progress in the chosen job role. Upon arrival, they were greeted by the farm owner, Mr. Ranjan Sahoo, who graciously guided them through the entire process.

The farm was a controlled environment with carefully regulated temperature, humidity, and ventilation to create an optimal setting for mushroom growth. Mr. Sahoo explained that maintaining cleanliness and a sterile environment was crucial during this phase to prevent pollution.

Mr. Sahoo emphasized the importance of sustainable practices in mushroom cultivation. He shared how the spent substrate was recycled as compost for other crops, creating a closed-loop system that minimized waste. Additionally, he highlighted the low environmental impact of mushroom farming compared to traditional agriculture.

He mentioned the harvesting process was particular, with workers carefully plucking mature mushrooms to ensure minimal damage. Mr. Sahoo explained the significance of timing in harvesting to guarantee the best flavor and nutritional content. The harvested mushrooms were then sorted, packaged, and prepared for distribution to local markets and restaurants.

The exposure visit not only expanded the understanding of mushroom cultivation but also underscored the economic and environmental benefits of this industry. This firsthand experience has sparked the trainee interest in exploring further opportunities in the field of sustainable agriculture and alternative farming practices.

Indeed it was a wonderful exposure to the aspirants which gave them a space of wide knowledge and learning experience. Mr. Dillip (Trainer) and trainees of DB Tech extend their gratitude to Sahoo Mushroom Farm for his kind cooperation. Trainees were very happy and were thankful to Don Bosco Tech for organizing the field trip.
