Don Bosco Tech Sambalpur Center arranged a guest lecturer session for Mushroom Grower (Batch - 4, Accenture- 12) job role on August 27, 2022. The designated topic for the above mentioned session was “Production of various type of mushroom in different season of the year”. The guest lecture began with welcome address by the domain trainer Mr. Dillip Kumar Behera. He has introduced and welcomed Mr. Satya Narayan Haripal from Satya Mushroom Farm to deliver the lecture.

Mr. Satya describes on various aspects, factors and types of mushrooms, there are different types of mushroom grown around the world. Button mushroom, oyster mushroom & paddy straw mushrooms are the three major types of used for cultivation in India. Paddy straw mushrooms can grow in temperatures ranging from 35 – 40 Degree Celsius. Oyster mushrooms on the other hand are grown in the northern plains while button mushrooms grow during the winter season he said. All these mushrooms of commercial importance are grown by different methods and techniques. Mushrooms are grown in special beds known as compost beds. In Odisha most of areas are cultivating paddy straw mushroom. It is one of the most popular mushrooms owing to its taste. He enlightens trainees by giving the advantages of Paddy straw mushroom by explaining the production cost for starting the cultivation as a small farm of mushroom at home. He also emphasized the trainees about the importance of self employment and its value addition to a family in terms of livelihood.

In the later part of the session, trainees interacted in the session with keen interest and raised questions about how to make career in the field of cultivation of mushroom. Trainees were very enthusiastic and energetic throughout the session. Mr. Haripal was very amazed by the participation and interest shown by the participants in the program.

Mr. Haripal summed up the session by answering all queries raised by trainees and he said mushroom farming is one of the most profitable agri-business that you can start with a low investment and space. The session ended with a hearty thanks to Mr. Haripal by support domain trainer Mr. Sarada Prasad Nanda in appreciation for taking the time out to educate the trainees.
