One needs to know that the ‘Hospitality Growth and Career Prospects in the respective field’ is a need of the hour. Based on this theme a round of briefing sessions was called on November 1, 2019, organized by Don Bosco Tech, Sambalpur center for its hospitality trainees.

The session kick-started by welcoming the resource person Mrs. Anjali Badi (Front Office Executive, IIM Guest House, Sambalpur).

As the session began she said, “The success of the hospitality industry relies greatly on the good rapport that one builds with the customer through communication and engagement.” She explained having good hosting capabilities such as; being attentive, making sure their needs are met, and constantly caring about their pleasure at every point. About the need to develop skills, she said that they must guide guests while touring the hotels, attending to guests’ check-in and check-out, making reservations, or any other customer hosting services that they can get into within the industry.

As the knowledge is so vast, performing different roles in the industry, will in turn expand their skills and knowledge, making them eligible for a better position in the field. She cited an example and said, “If you work in the Front Office, you can master the skills of that job but also good to learn about the division of the reservation and how they operate.” In this way, in the hospitality industry, one can enjoy perks and benefits, which will enhance one’s financial position. You are lucky, saying, “In this sector you can enjoy the best of both worlds – the traveling, attending to guests, making arrangements and in the kitchen, develop your culinary expertise. You can also step-in to work in restaurants, hotels, pubs, motels, luxurious resorts, and bars.”

Before the session ended, the time was set aside to seek participants’ clarification on hospitality and tourism. Mrs. Badi, with her expertise, gave all a satisfactory answer. It was time to end the session, hence, Mr. Ajaya Kumar Badi (Center Coordinator), thanked the resource person for the resourceful session before sending her off.
