The first guest lecturer session for Mushroom Grower job role was successfully organized at Don Bosco Tech Sambalpur centre on “Production of various types of mushrooms in tropical climate and its economic implications in Indian society” on June 26, 2023 for the trainees of Batch - 1, Accenture 2023-24. The guest lecture started with the welcome address by the domain trainer Mr. Dillip Kumar Behera wherein he invited Mrs. Susma Ekka from Khusi Mushroom Udyog, Sambalpur to deliver the lecture.

Mrs. Susma told about different kinds of mushrooms that are usually grown in tropical climates. She gave a detailed account of different various factors that could affect mushroom production. She also shed light on the preparation of the substrate, spawning of the substrate, incubation, fruiting, and harvesting. She made a fair comparison among different types of mushrooms on the ground cost and benefit analysis for a new entrepreneur. She laid emphasis on the opportunity it creates for self-employment and its value addition as an alternative source of living.

Further, Mrs. Susma pointed out the importance of mushroom cultivation in generating self-employment and its contribution to strengthening rural by generating additional employment. She also offered a few tips on ways to prevent spillage during the process of production. Throughout the session, trainees interacted with keen interest and raised specific questions on how to make a career in the field of cultivation of mushrooms. Trainees were very enthusiastic and energetic throughout the session. She was very amazed by the participation and interest shown by the participants in the program.

Mrs. Susma summed up the session by answering queries and deliberating on the enormous scope for self-employment leading to a decent livelihood for a mushroom grower. The session ended with a hearty thanks to Mrs. Susma by Mr. Sarat Chandra Dash in appreciation for taking the time out to educate the trainees.
