Don Bosco Tech Sambalpur organized an exposure visit at AB Mushroom, Sanatanpali, Sambalpur for hands-on experience and better professional insights into the concerned subject. Mr. Dillip Kumar Behera (Domain Trainer) and Mr. Sarada Prasad Nanda (Centre Coordinator) along with all Mushroom Grower (Batch – 9) trainees paid a visit to the above-mentioned farm on March 30, 2023. On our arrival, the Proprietor Mr. Shanti Prakash Pradhan let us in with a warm welcome.

Mr. Shanti Prakash Pradhan initially explained various types of processes of mushroom production and demonstrated the various kinds of activities involved in it. There the trainees were understand the cultivation techniques of Oyster and Paddy straw Mushroom. Nutritional importance of mushroom, types of mushrooms, raw material, mushroom spawn, method of cultivation, watering, required temperature and humidity for fruiting, harvesting methodology, preservation techniques, pest and disease control and about marketing channels were elaborated during this visit. Practical knowledge was disseminated to the students for better understanding of the cultivation, so that in future they can establish their venture independently.

The trainees succeeded in acquiring knowledge after exposure training on mushroom production, and increased the knowledge regarding all the subcomponents of mushroom production. This visit will motivate them to adapt good mushroom production practices. After this visit Trainees are also learned mushrooms basics, room preparation for cultivation of mushroom, quality spawn for mushroom cultivation, disease and pest control, value addition of the cultivated product through grading, packaging of the harvested mushroom.

Indeed it was a wonderful experience that was shared with them which made them see things from a practical point of view. Mr. Dillip (Trainer) and trainees of DB Tech thanked and extended their gratitude to Mr. Pradhan for his kind cooperation permission and support. He rendered to make the visit successful with the accomplishment of the objective. Trainees were too happy to be thankful to Don Bosco Tech for organizing the field trip.
