Don Bosco Tech Society Enriches Trainees with an Immersive Hospitality Exposure Visit
On February 21, 2025, Don Bosco Tech Society orchestrated an enriching exposure visit for its Guest Service Associate (Food & Beverage) trainees to Hotel KC PLACE, Sambalpur. Designed to instill professional ethics and deepen industry knowledge, this initiative provided students with invaluable insights into the dynamic world of hospitality. The trainees were guided by Mr. Bhavani Sankar Bhanja, an expert F&B Trainer, and warmly welcomed by Mr. Ranjan Singh, the Hotel Manager, who played a pivotal role in ensuring a meaningful learning experience.
An Introduction to Hospitality Excellence
Upon arrival, the trainees were introduced to front office operations, gaining firsthand experience of guest interactions, reservation management, and seamless check-in and check-out procedures. They observed the vital responsibilities of the front desk, including organizing porter services, issuing room keys, implementing security measures, and facilitating communication between guests and various hotel departments. Mr. Ranjan Singh emphasized the importance of the front desk as the face of the hotel, underscoring the need for efficiency, professionalism, and a warm demeanor in handling guest concerns and requests.
Exploring the Art of Dining and Service
Moving to the Food & Beverage (F&B) division, the trainees observed the intricate coordination between restaurant staff and customers, learning the fundamentals of excellent customer service. They gained insight into order-taking procedures, dining etiquette, and service techniques that contribute to an exceptional guest experience. Mr. Ranjan Singh elaborated on the significance of engaging with guests, handling feedback constructively, and resolving issues with a customer-centric approach.
A key takeaway for the trainees was the attention to detail required in fine dining, from table setting and serving techniques to ensuring guest satisfaction. This practical exposure reinforced the importance of teamwork, adaptability, and effective communication—crucial skills for thriving in the hospitality sector.
Connecting Theory with Practice
The visit concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where trainees engaged in meaningful discussions with Mr. Ranjan Singh regarding hotel operations, sustainability practices, and career opportunities in the hospitality industry. This session helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, making the learning experience both insightful and transformative.
The exposure visit left a lasting impact on the trainees, reinforcing the principle that hands-on learning is far more effective than theoretical study alone. Witnessing industry operations firsthand provided them with a clearer vision for their careers and a renewed enthusiasm for excellence in hospitality.
A Sincere Expression of Gratitude
Don Bosco Tech Society, along with Mr. Bhavani Sankar Bhanja and all participating trainees, extends heartfelt gratitude to Hotel KC PLACE, Sambalpur, for their generous hospitality, guidance, and unwavering support in nurturing the next generation of hospitality professionals.
