Don Bosco Tech Society's Sambalpur Center recently hosted a captivating guest lecture on January 6, 2024, focusing on the intricacies of oyster mushroom production during winter. The session, organized for Batch 8 trainees aiming for roles at Accenture in 2023-24, was a remarkable opportunity to delve into the sustainable cultivation practices of this versatile and nutritious fungus.

The event commenced with a warm welcome from Mr. Dillip Kumar Behera, the esteemed domain trainer, who introduced the session's speaker, Ms. Punam Bag from AB Mushroom Farm. With her expertise and experience, Ms. Bag provided invaluable insights tailored for winter conditions, setting the stage for an enlightening learning experience.

Central to the lecture was the emphasis on selecting winter-adapted oyster mushroom strains, known for their resilience to colder temperatures. Ms. Bag elaborated on specific varieties conducive to successful cultivation even in the chillier months, setting a strong foundation for the trainees' understanding.

Delving further, the session covered the crucial aspect of substrate formulation, stressing the importance of a well-balanced mix of organic materials such as straw, hardwood sawdust, and other additives.
