Don Bosco Tech's Sambalpur Centre recently hosted an informative guest lecture for Batch - 07 trainees of the Skills to Succeed – 2024-25 program, focusing on the Mushroom Grower job role. The session, held on February 13, 2024, was centered around the topic "Types of Mushrooms."

Mr. Dillip Kumar Behera, the domain trainer, warmly welcomed everyone and introduced the guest speaker, Ms. Sara Singh, the respected owner of Sai Mushroom Farm in Sambalpur.

The purpose of the lecture was to provide valuable insights into mushroom cultivation and how different types of mushrooms thrive in various seasonal conditions. Ms. Sara began by highlighting the importance of environmental factors for mushroom growth. She discussed various types of mushrooms, including oyster, paddy straw, and white button mushrooms, and explained the climatic conditions that suit each type.

The session also covered how seasonal changes impact mushroom growth, focusing on temperature, humidity, and light conditions. For example, mushrooms like oyster and paddy straw grow best in the winter, while white button mushrooms are suited for spring. Trainees were encouraged to align their cultivation methods with the seasonal cycles to improve both yield and quality.

Practical tips for creating controlled environments, such as temperature-controlled growing rooms, were also shared. The interactive portion of the session saw trainees showing great interest by asking many questions about pursuing a career in mushroom cultivation. Their enthusiasm and engagement were impressive.

Ms. Sara wrapped up the session by answering all the trainees' questions and explained how mushroom farming can be a profitable business with low investment and space requirements. The event concluded with heartfelt thanks from Mr. Sarada Prasad Nanda, who expressed appreciation for Ms. Sara's time and effort in educating the trainees.

Overall, the session provided attendees with useful knowledge and ideas, making it a memorable and impactful event for everyone involved.
