On May 15, 2023, Don Bosco Tech Chandigarh hosted a guest lecture focused on Cryptography for the Associate Desktop Publishing (DTP) program. The session was led by Mr. Manjeet Dhillon, an experienced professional in financial literacy programs in Chandigarh, bringing over 6 years of corporate expertise to the discussion. Alongside two trainers, approximately 20 trainees actively participated in the session.

Mr. Dhillon's lecture commenced with a concise overview of Cryptography, defined as the study of secure communication techniques that ensure only the sender and intended recipient can access message contents. The term originates from the Greek word 'krypton,' meaning hidden, reflecting its core purpose of safeguarding communication from malicious third parties, known as adversaries. Encryption, a key aspect of Cryptography, involves using algorithms and keys to transform plain text into encrypted output, enhancing data security.

The session delved into various encryption techniques, including symmetric encryption, hashing functions, blockchain, and digital signatures, highlighting their roles in ensuring secure digital communication. In an era where digitalization and online practices like shopping are prevalent, the importance of cryptography in safeguarding sensitive information has grown immensely. Cybersecurity professionals now prioritize encryption to maintain privacy and combat cyber threats effectively.

Feedback from the students indicated that the lecture was highly beneficial, enhancing their understanding of cryptography's fundamental principles and applications. The interactive nature of the session facilitated a dynamic learning experience, aligning closely with the planned objectives and leaving a positive impact on the participants' knowledge base.
