On August 27th, 2024, Don Bosco Tech Chandigarh organized an engaging and highly insightful guest lecture for the trainees of the Customer Care Executive (CCE) Domestic Non-Voice program. The lecture was delivered by the esteemed Mr. Vipin, whose deep knowledge and dynamic approach captivated the audience as he delved into the critical topic of HIV, its symptoms, and transmission.
Mr. Vipin kicked off the session with a compelling explanation of the key difference between HIV and AIDS, clarifying a common confusion. He emphasized that HIV is a virus that weakens the immune system, whereas AIDS is the advanced stage of HIV infection, occurring when the immune system is severely compromised. His discussion was eye-opening, as many trainees learned for the first time that timely treatment of HIV can prevent progression to AIDS.
The attendees were particularly intrigued when Mr. Vipin described the early symptoms of HIV infection. He shared that within 2 to 4 weeks of exposure, many people experience flu-like symptoms, which can vary in duration from a few days to several weeks. His emphasis on the importance of testing, since these symptoms can be mistaken for other illnesses, was a crucial takeaway for the participants.
As the session progressed, Mr. Vipin shed light on the primary methods of HIV transmission—unprotected sexual contact, shared needles, blood transfusions, and transmission from mother to child during childbirth or breastfeeding. His explanation was thorough, and he skillfully debunked several myths surrounding HIV transmission, including the misconceptions that it can spread through casual contact like hugging, shaking hands, or sharing meals.
This lecture was more than just informative—it was transformative. The trainees found themselves immersed in the session, actively participating, and gaining newfound awareness. The lecture not only clarified critical facts about HIV/AIDS but also inspired the trainees to be advocates in raising awareness and fighting against the stigma associated with the disease.
The session concluded with a wave of gratitude toward Mr. Vipin for sharing such vital, life-saving information. The trainees left the lecture empowered, motivated to educate others, and deeply appreciative of the opportunity to participate in such an enlightening event. This impactful session will undoubtedly resonate with them for a long time, reinforcing the importance of awareness and action in the ongoing battle against HIV/AIDS.
