On March 4, 2023, Don Bosco Navjeevan Society Chandigarh, alongside esteemed partners like Savera Federation of Self Help Groups, Chandigarh Urban Fest, Association of Architects Chandigarh, and Onkar Charitable Foundation, commemorated International Women’s Day under the theme “Empower Women - Empower the Nation” at Tourism Centre Sector 1, Chandigarh. The event commenced with warm felicitations and a gracious welcome ceremony for the dignitaries. Fr. Reji Tom, Director of Don Bosco Navjeevan Society, extended a heartfelt welcome to all guests, including the honorable presence of Mr. Anup Gupta, Mayor of Chandigarh.

Notable dignitaries graced the occasion, including Dr. Shobha Koser, renowned Kathak Dance Exponent; Dr. Sadbhavna Pandit, SMO, GMSH-16; Ms. Shilpa Dass, Secretary CUF; Mr. Ravinder Singh Billa, Chairman of Onkar Charitable Foundation; Mr. Nitin HR from L&T; and Mr. Vineet Marwaha. The event showcased a collaboration between Don Bosco Society and the District Family Welfare Department, GMSH-16, launching the impactful “ANAEMIA MUKT CHANDIGARH” campaign, dedicated to reducing anemia among women and pregnant ladies.

In addition to cultural performances, students set up stalls showcasing their handmade products and culinary delights. Skill students also showcased their talents through engaging cultural programs. A highlight of the event was Mr. Ravinder Singh Billa presenting appreciation awards to five outstanding women for their remarkable contributions to empowering women in their communities. Among them was MRS. MANPREET KAUR, Coordinator of the Skill Programme, recognized for her dedication to empowering young girls in Chandigarh through skill training and employment opportunities.

The event not only celebrated women's empowerment but also provided a platform for skill students to display their talents and for attendees to engage in meaningful discussions and initiatives like the anemia awareness campaign. It was a memorable occasion marked by gratitude, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to building a more empowered society.
