On 13 February 2023, the students of Food & Beverage Service Associate B2 under Skill Meghalaya project received the guests by the name of Mr. Dominic Roy and his sister-in-law Ms.Dophina Thabah, a past student of Don Bosco Tech Society from Nongstoin centre of Housekeeping domain.

Mr.Dominic is a visually impaired who lives with his wife and a six-year-old daughter. He completed his degree from Delhi. He is currently working in an organization that works for blind people in Delhi and in Bethany society, Shillong.

Furthermore, he came to the center to motivate and influence the trainees. In his talk, he explains to everyone that life is not an end if you do not have your eyesight, and there are so many ways to live our life the way we want. It depends on how we mold ourselves. Life is an art where we need to learn and adjust with society we live, and this is how it would pave the way to sight. Take life as a challenge and an opportunity to test our skill and patience. He demonstrated that he has a mobile like everyone else and is able to operate and use it without any problem. He added that he takes care of his daughter too. A live example of his own story, he shared, motivated the students that he does not depend on anyone. Mr. Roy even travels to Delhi alone and reaches safe by overcoming all difficulties.

Later, Ms. Dophina, alumni of Nongstoin center shared her experience with the trainee, who is currently, working in a hotel in Kerala. She says life outside is difficult in the beginning, leaving the comfort of the house and parents. Everyone needs to learn how to be patient. Being patient teaches us to cope with any difficulties and not to quit without giving a try.

Trainees were delighted by hearing interested experiences shared by the two. There was an active interaction between them as trainees asked doubts about work nature in hotel industry too.

Mr.Dominic concluded his speech by saying that a blind person could live normally like everybody else if we learn how to accept life as a gift from God
