Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong collaborates with ASDC and Toyota towards Rural Skill Enhancement

Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong with the initiative of Don Bosco Tech Society today inaugurated the T-TEP (Toyota Technical Education Program) in Meghalaya, with Automotive Skill Development Corporation (ASDC) being the key partner for the implementation of the project. The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance the student’s skill sets with special focus on rural areas, thereby strengthening their employability through the company’s unique training initiative namely Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP).
The inaugural event on 5th July 2023 was graced by Dr Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Govt of Meghalaya, in the presence of Mr. Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice President, TKM, Mr Arun Lawaniya, Deputy Lead – State Initiatives and Capacity Building, ASDC, Fr James Thyrniang, the Economer of Shillong Province, Fr Arcadius Puwein, Principal, Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong Mr Kishor Dass Regional Manager and staff of Don Bosco Tech Society, Automotive Instructors and the students.
On this occasion, Dr Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Govt of Meghalaya, stated that this initiative by TKM in collaboration with ASDC centre at Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong will have a big impact towards developing highly skilled, employable, and future ready youths. She also expressed with confidence that these efforts of collaboration by industry partners like Toyota which are aligned with the Government of India’s Skill India Mission, will support in bridging the existing skills gap and help develop world-class workforce in state of Meghalaya.
Present at the Inauguration, Mr Vikram Gulati, Country Head & Executive Vice President, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “Automotive industry is growing tremendously and since 2006 T-TEP has become a benchmark by adopting exceptional training modules, thereby benefitting the automotive service industry and society at large. Through the T-TEP initiative, Toyota develop talented youths by equipping them with world-class training on advanced technologies. The collaboration with ASDC and Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong will strengthen the talent pool from the grass root level and provide opportunities for youth with special focus on rural areas”.
Talking about this partnership, Fr Arcadius Puwein, Principal, Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong stated, “With advancements in technology in the auto industry and unprecedent growth in motorization, we need to ensure that the consumers receive the best-in-class services, especially in rural areas. To align with this requirement, we will need highly skilled technicians, making it imperative that students at technical training centers have access to advanced technologies and gain hands-on training experience. With this collaboration, students at Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong will get an opportunity to understand Toyota’s values, best practices, and advanced technologies which will benefit not only the students but also the entire industry, thereby contribute toward the Skill India Mission.”
TKM has come forward to equip the Don Bosco Technical School at Shillong as in initiative of Don Bosco Tech Society which as a network of skill training initiatives Don Bosco in India continues to skill the needy youth across the nation.
