On September 10, 2024, the Shillong Center buzzed with excitement as it officially launched the Food & Beverage Service Associate Batch 2 & 3 program, a key initiative under the prestigious Skills Meghalaya Project 2024-25. The event, filled with energy and promise, was graced by the presence of notable dignitaries including Fr. Shiningstar Dkhar, Principal of Don Bosco Technical School, Laitumkhrah; Fr. Saji Stephen, the Rector; Fr. Donbor Jyrwa, the Manager; and Br. Lambert Lyngdoh, the Vice Principal. The audience was warmly welcomed by the dynamic trainer, Mrs. Armeda Diengdoh, along with the dedicated staff and eager students from the Dbtech Society.
The ceremony commenced with a soulful prayer service, setting a reflective tone for the day. Fr. Saji Stephen then delivered an inspiring and powerful speech, underscoring the transformative impact of the Don Bosco Tech Society on the lives of Meghalaya’s youth, many of whom come from underprivileged backgrounds. He highlighted the program’s goal of uplifting school dropouts and unemployed young adults, offering them a gateway to bright futures. Fr. Saji also tackled the modern-day concern of high unemployment rates, urging the students to focus on self-improvement by dedicating more time to learning and reading about their chosen field rather than being consumed by social media. His words struck a chord with the audience, motivating them to seize the opportunity in front of them.
Principal Fr. Shiningstar echoed this sentiment in his welcome address, expressing his excitement to witness the growth and learning of the students throughout their time at the center. His warm words set the stage for what promises to be an enriching journey ahead.
Adding a vibrant touch to the proceedings, the students performed a heartfelt song, which resonated deeply with the distinguished guests and audience alike, bringing a sense of unity and enthusiasm to the event. Following the performance, the trainees were given their training kits, which included essential resources such as books, bags, and copies—tools to equip them for the road ahead.
One of the most captivating moments of the event was when alumna Miss Naphisabet Khongjee took the stage to share her personal journey. Her moving story of overcoming hardships to find success through the Dbtech Society struck a chord with everyone present. Her message was simple yet powerful: persistence, even in the face of exhaustion, leads to victory. She urged the new batch of students to embrace challenges as stepping stones toward success, making her story a beacon of hope for all in attendance.
The event concluded with light refreshments and a heartfelt vote of thanks by Miss Rhiedolcy Diengdoh, who reflected on her own experiences during her placement outside the state. Her words of gratitude and encouragement left a lasting impression on everyone as they mingled and shared in the excitement of the day’s launch.
Overall, the opening of the Food & Beverage Service Associate program was more than just an event; it was a celebration of opportunities and dreams in the making. With an inspiring lineup of speakers, a supportive network of mentors, and eager students ready to embark on their learning journey, the event set the stage for a future filled with hope, growth, and career possibilities.
