On July 29th, 2023, the Don Bosco Technical School in Laitumkhrah, Shillong, buzzed with altruism and community spirit as it hosted a blood donation camp. This noble initiative was spearheaded by the Don Bosco Technical School Past Pupils Association, aiming to foster awareness about the critical importance of blood donation.
The event was graced by several notable attendees, including Dr. Hughbert Dkhar from Nazareth Hospital Shillong, who played a pivotal role in enlightening the participants. Other distinguished guests included Fr. Saji Stephen (Director), Miss Rhiedolcy Diengdoh (Placement Coordinator), Miss Genesis Najiar (Trainer Hospitality), students from the Housekeeping Trainees B1 under the Skills for Dignity Mindtree project, and a few members from Nazareth Hospital.

Dr. Hughbert reassured the participants that the process of donating blood is pain-free and also beneficial to the donor’s health. He highlighted that individuals aged 18 and above are eligible to donate, provided they pass a comprehensive health check-up conducted by medical professionals. Those deemed unfit to donate were encouraged to continue supporting the cause by spreading awareness about its importance.
This enlightening session underscored the message that blood donation is not merely a medical procedure but a profound act of human kindness and solidarity. Dr. Hughbert's insights left a lasting impression on the trainees, instilling a sense of responsibility and the realization that they could make a tangible difference in the world.
