Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya visits Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong

On the 28th of June 2023, Honourable Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Mr. Conrad K Sangma visited Don Bosco Technical School Shillong. He was welcomed by Fr. Saji Stephen the Director along with Fr. Arcadius Puwein (Principal ) and others. We also had other officials from the district and MSSDS (Meghalaya State Skill Development Society) such as the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District Smt R. Kurbah, CEO of MSSDS Mr Vijay Kumar, Smt M. Tariang (AO-MSSDS), Smt Audrey Khonglam (SDO-East Khasi Hills) and other official from MSSDS.
The Chief Minister visited the training facilities and Labs of different trades. He took time to interact with the trainees of Don Bosco Tech and motivated them to take the training seriously and also ensure that they take up employment or self-employment. He was very happy to learn that the trainees were already having job offers and would be travelling to Mumbai total up the job in I JW Marriott Sahar, Mumbai.
During a short formal function that was organised in the campus, Fr. Arcadius, welcomed all the dignitaries, members of the management, Teachers and Trainees. He said that having Don Bosco ITI institute is a blessing to many youths, since most of the youth coming to Don Bosco are those who did not get admission in other colleges or institutes and most of these youth were able to find a pathway for learning and earning through the training and growth opportunities offered in the campus.
The Chief Minister distributed the course completion certificate along with the job offer letters to the trained students of Food & Beverage Service Associate trained by Don Bosco Tech Society under the Skills Meghalaya project funded by MSSDS and course completion certificates to those who completed the training in Automobile (MMV).
In his address to the young people in the campus he encouraged and motivated them to pursue their training and studies with patience and perseverance. He motivated them with example from his own life and his humble and hard beginnings of career. He reminded the youth that today they are are in much better position with the support and opportunities provided through the government and the MSSDS in particular for skill training and livelihood possibilities. He encouraged everyone to grab the opportunity to equip themselves with required skills, get employed and also become an entrepreneur.
Fr. Saji Stephen proposed the vote of thanks and also assured the youth that the Don Bosco Institution will continue to remain commited to the needy youth.
