On June 28, 2024, the Food & Beverage Service Associate Batch 01 from Don Bosco Tech, Shillong Center, embarked on an enlightening industrial visit to Poinisuk Hotel in Shillong. The visit offered the trainees an exceptional opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the hospitality industry.
The trainees were graciously welcomed by Miss Jerine Nongkynrih, the HR Manager, and Mr. Robert, the kitchen staff leader, along with his dedicated team. Their warm reception set a positive tone for the day, which unfolded with an extensive tour of the hotel’s various accommodations, including single bedrooms, double bedrooms, and premium rooms. Each room's unique features and amenities were highlighted, giving the trainees a comprehensive understanding of the hotel's offerings.
An engaging session followed, where the trainees were educated about the different room types and their corresponding tariffs. The hosts clarified that room service incurs an additional fee and that children below ten years of age stay free, while those over ten are subject to charges. This knowledge is crucial for aspiring hospitality professionals to ensure clarity in guest interactions and service offerings.
The practical demonstration of setting up a basic table, serving correctly, and appropriately clearing the table was particularly beneficial.
