On 15th July 2023, trainees of Housekeeping trainee B1 under LTI Mindtree project of Don Bosco Tech Shillong center celebrated World Youth Skills Day under the theme of 'skilling teachers, trainers, and youth for a transformative future'.

Trainers presented the importance of World Youth Skills Day and various job roles imparted to youth through technical and vocational education and training centers.

It highlighted the essential role of teachers, trainers, and other educators play in providing skills for the youth to transition to the labor market. This day reminds us to recognize the importance of imparting individuals with the necessary skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship to ensure that the youth skill sets are highlighted, and they become more skilled with time to meet the job demand.

Technology advancement and shifting labor market dynamics increasing the call for agile and adaptable skills set is crucial to empower young people to navigate these changes effectively.

Ms. Rhiedolcy advised trainees to equip themselves with hard and soft skills so that it would help them to fit in any industry related to their skills. Furthermore, she says that an educational degree without employability skills will not fetch any job as employers are looking for a highly skilled or semi-skilled workforce. And to bridge the gap, Don Bosco Tech Society is helping young people to learn, earn and build their future.

The day concluded with a group discussion and presentation made by the trainees on the skill sets required for various job roles.
