On July 15th, the Shillong and Mawkasiang centers came together to celebrate World Youth Skills Day at the Shillong center, organized by the dedicated trainers from both locations. The day commenced with a thought-provoking introduction by the state placement officer, who eloquently outlined the theme and highlighted the importance of equipping young people with the necessary skills to make a positive impact on their communities and the world at large. Her speech set a powerful tone for the day, inspiring everyone present.
The highlight of the morning was a thrilling basketball tournament between the two centers. The competition was fierce yet friendly, showcasing not only athletic prowess but also teamwork, sportsmanship, and unity. The energy was palpable as participants and spectators alike cheered for their teams, embodying the spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie.
Simultaneously, a drawing competition unfolded, where participants created stunning artworks inspired by the theme. The creativity on display was awe-inspiring, as each piece reflected the artists' visions of peace and development. The winners of the drawing competition were awarded prizes, adding to the excitement of the day.
One of the most engaging activities was a game called "Jump In- Jump Out," which saw enthusiastic participation from all attendees. The game fostered a sense of fun and teamwork, further strengthening the bonds among the youth.
The event also featured a brief but impactful presentation hosted by the Technical School's front office. Representatives from the prestigious Vivanta Hotel in Shillong attended, offering their support and sharing valuable insights about future career opportunities in the hospitality industry. This interaction provided the trainees with new knowledge and aspirations for their vocational journeys.
The program concluded with an open discussion, allowing students to share their thoughts and reflections on the day’s events. This exchange of ideas and experiences was enriching for everyone involved, reinforcing the day's message of skill development and its importance in advocating for peace and development.
