On 9th May 2024, a significant Parents Meeting was held at the Don Bosco Tech Society Shillong Centre for the trainees enrolled in the Food & Beverage Service Associate B1 program, part of the Skill Meghalaya project for 2024-2025.

This meeting was a crucial touchpoint between the parents, trainees, and the Don Bosco Tech Society. During the session, parents were thoroughly briefed on the comprehensive training sequence provided by the Society. They gained insights into the step-by-step journey their children would embark upon, from the initial training phase to job placement. It was highlighted that the trainees would be equipped with specialized skills tailored for the Food & Beverage Service industry and assured of job placements immediately after completing their training. These placements, however, would be outside the state, accompanied by a promise of continuous monthly tracking for a year, ensuring support and guidance regardless of the trainees' locations.

The meeting revealed a spectrum of parental perspectives. Some parents expressed support for their children taking up opportunities outside the state, recognizing the value of broader exposure and experience. Conversely, a few parents voiced concerns, preferring local employment due to personal and familial circumstances.

Overall, the parents left the meeting with a renewed sense of optimism and gratitude. They appreciated the dedicated efforts of Don Bosco Tech Society in providing invaluable training to youth who had previously dropped out of formal education, coupled with a robust assurance of employment. This initiative not only promises to equip the trainees with essential skills but also underscores the Society's commitment to their ongoing success and well-being.
