On May 27, 2024, Don Bosco Technical School in Shillong, Meghalaya, buzzed with excitement as the staff of Don Bosco Tech Society inaugurated the Food and Beverage Service Associate Program. The event marked a significant step towards empowering the youth with vital vocational skills.
The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Mrs. Audrey Khonglam, SDO, who highlighted the transformative impact of such initiatives on the local community. Joining her were Fr. Saji Stephan, Director of Don Bosco Technical School, and Fr. Donbor Jyrwa, the Manager, both of whom have been pivotal in championing educational excellence at the institution.
The gathering included 26 enthusiastic students and 21 supportive parents, creating an atmosphere filled with anticipation and hope. Miss Genesis Najiar, the dedicated trainer, expertly hosted the event, setting the tone for a memorable day. A warm welcome speech by student Mercy Grace Marshiangbai, followed by a harmonious welcome song performed by the students, set a heartfelt and inspiring ambiance.
Fr. Saji initiated the program with a solemn prayer service, emphasizing the importance of communication skills and work ethics in daily life. His words resonated deeply with the audience, underscoring the values that Don Bosco Technical School instills in its students.
Mrs. Audrey Khonglam, in her insightful speech, shed light on the initiatives of the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS). She spoke passionately about the pivotal role of parental support in a child's success and how state-provided opportunities can uplift underprivileged youth and school dropouts, enabling them to become self-reliant and respectable citizens.
Miss Rhiedolcy Diengdoh, the Placement Coordinator, also addressed the gathering, welcoming parents and students to the institute. She shared valuable insights about life beyond the borders of Meghalaya, encouraging students to embrace the world outside, learn from diverse experiences, and leverage these opportunities for personal and professional growth.
