On 22nd July 2025, Don Bosco Technical School, in collaboration with Don Bosco Tech Society, Shillong, conducted a vibrant and purpose-driven mobilization program at Tynring village in East Khasi Hills. This initiative aimed to inform and inspire the rural youth about the free skill development training programs offered by the institute, with the larger goal of unlocking sustainable employment opportunities and fostering self-reliance.
Understanding the routine responsibilities of the working youth in the area, the session began early at 8:30 AM, ensuring maximum participation. Despite their busy schedules, 15 enthusiastic young individuals turned up, eager to explore the possibilities that vocational training could open for them.
The session was inaugurated by Mr. Ribudlang, staff of Don Bosco Technical School, who warmly welcomed the participants and provided a concise introduction to the mission of Don Bosco Tech and the various trades offered by the institute. His words set the tone for a session focused on skill-building as a powerful tool for transformation.
The core of the program was led by Ms. Larimonsngewbha Wanniang, a trainer from Don Bosco Tech Shillong, who delivered an engaging and informative presentation. She introduced key training domains such as Housekeeping Assistant, Food & Beverage Service (F&B), and Security Guard, breaking down their course structure, duration, and career prospects. Her insights gave the participants a clear understanding of how these programs are designed to match industry needs and improve employability.
A special focus was placed on the support provided through the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), which sponsors these programs for eligible youth. Ms. Wanniang emphasized how such government-supported initiatives not only offer free training but also help bridge the gap between rural youth and dignified employment.
What made the session truly meaningful was its interactive nature. Participants actively engaged with questions about placement assistance, course content, and long-term career benefits. The curiosity and involvement of the attendees reflected a genuine desire to improve their futures through skills-based learning.
This mobilization program was not just an information session—it was a spark of possibility. It successfully connected the youth of Tynring to the broader mission of Don Bosco Tech Society: empowering individuals through quality skill development.
