Don Bosco Tech, Thakurmunda organized a guest lecturer for Organic Grower job role under Accenture – 12 on October 28, 2022. Mr. Gagan Bihari Palei, Secretary of Sampriti NGO was invited as the guest lecture. He has vast knowledge on Organic farming.  As required to students get new perspectives and opinions that are often missed in a regular class.

The guest lecture began with introduced by the domain trainer Mr. Abhimanyu Behera and he heartily welcomed Mr. Gagan Bihari Palei to deliver the lecture.

He described how organic farming in India has its roots in traditional agricultural practices that evolved in counties, villages and farming communities. Organic farming is not only helpful for fertility of soil but also improves the overall condition of human beings, animals and environment.  He said low cost of production, quality produce with best taste and opportunity to get good premium price organic production is really economically viable. Organic farming is call of the hour, without vermi compost and bio pesticides no one can dream of organic agriculture. One of the major challenges of organic cultivation is control of insect pests and diseases and that can effectively be overcome by use of vermi wash bio pesticide. As vermi compost is inevitable for organic farming, demand will be ever increasing he added. He advised to go for the principle of organic grower and make a small vermi unit as well. Organic farming can be defined as an agricultural process that uses biological fertilisers and pest control acquired from animal or plant waste.

In the later part of the session, trainees interacted in the session with keen interest and raised questions about how to make career in the field of organic grower. He has advised to trainees to adopt the process of organic way of production rather than the modern crop farming which in result deteriorates the soil and the human health. He also suggested trainees to take seriously and make it as carrier. Finally Mr. Diganta Pattnaik (Support Domain Trainer) thanked to Mr. Palei for sharing his knowledge and taking the time out to educate the trainees.
