On March 24, 2023, Don Bosco Tech Thakurmunda organized a captivating exposure visit to Sabai Farm in Kendujuani, Mayurbhanj, aimed at immersing students in the practicalities of organic farming. This enlightening excursion, led by Mr. Abhimanyu Behera (Domain Trainer) and Jagadish Prasad Swain (Centre Coordinator), included all Organic Grower trainees, providing them with firsthand experience and deep insights into sustainable agricultural practices.

Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Chittaranjan Patra, the proprietor of Sabai Farm. The day's activities commenced with an engaging tour of the farm, where Mr. Patra showcased a variety of traditional organic farming techniques. The students witnessed live demonstrations of vermin-wash and compost formation, herbal pesticide and insecticide management, seed treatment, and soil management. These demonstrations vividly illustrated the contrast between conventional and organic farming methods, highlighting the benefits of the latter.

Mr. Patra's interactive session with the trainees delved into the environmental ramifications of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. He explained how these chemicals harden the soil and render it infertile, and how their excessive use leads to pollution of soil, air, and water. Emphasizing the advantages of organic farming, Mr. Patra pointed out that it eliminates environmental pollution and yields higher market prices for produce. His insights were both eye-opening and motivational, inspiring the students to consider organic farming as a viable and sustainable alternative.

The visit also featured an open session where students could express their thoughts and ask questions about organic farming. Mr. Patra addressed their queries with practical demonstrations, further solidifying their understanding and commitment. The students left the session motivated, many pledging to convert their own family fields to organic practices.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Mr. Abhimanyu Behera to Mr. Chittaranjan Patra and all the participants. This exposure visit not only broadened the students' knowledge but also ignited a passion for sustainable farming practices, equipping them with the vision and tools for a successful future in organic agriculture.
