Don Bosco Tech Society's Thakurmunda center recently hosted a valuable guest lecture session for Batch 4 of Accenture 2023-24 trainees pursuing the organic grower job role. This engaging event took place on September 14, 2023, and featured Mr. Bhagyarathi Mohanty, the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Thakurmunda Block, Government of Odisha, as the esteemed guest speaker.

The session commenced with a warm introduction by the domain trainer, Mr. Abhimanyu Behera, who extended a hearty welcome to Mr. Mohanty, setting the tone for an enlightening lecture.

Mr. Mohanty engaged with the trainees, delving into the crucial aspects of organic farming. He enlightened the aspiring farmers on various essential practices, including deep summer plugging, the use of bio-fertilizers, pheromone traps, light traps, and more. Emphasizing the benefits, he explained that adopting these techniques can reduce cultivation costs and enhance agricultural yields. Furthermore, he underscored the health advantages, pointing out that organic products have fewer chemicals and zero side effects, thus promoting the well-being of families.

During the session, Mr. Mohanty shared valuable insights into crafting herbal sprays, jeewamrit, and vermicomposting through natural means. He advocated the adoption of natural methods for nutrient management, pest and disease control, and also provided information on various government schemes supporting organic farming.

In the midst of the lecture, he delivered a comprehensive presentation on the "technique of organic vegetable production." Additionally, an open discussion was organized to encourage trainees to share their perspectives on organic farming. All participants expressed their commitment to transitioning their fields to organic practices for the betterment of their families.

Finally, a productive question-and-answer session ensued, where Mr. Mohanty addressed all queries raised by the trainees. He urged them to embrace organic production methods, highlighting their benefits for soil quality and human health, in contrast to modern crop farming practices that can degrade both.

In conclusion, Ms. Rasmita Behera, the Support Domain Trainer, extended her gratitude to Mr. Mohanty for generously sharing his knowledge and dedicating his time to educate the trainees. This guest lecture was a significant step in equipping the future organic growers with valuable insights and practices in sustainable agriculture.
