On November 19, 2024, the Don Bosco Tech Thakurmunda center organized an enlightening exposure visit to Sai Sankar Farm in Bhadubeda, Jarak, Mayurbhanj, creating an unforgettable learning experience for the Batch-4 trainees in organic farming. Under the guidance of Mr. Abhimanyu Behera, the Domain Trainer, and accompanied by a group of eager Organic Grower Trainees, the visit turned into a journey of discovery and inspiration.

The day began with a warm welcome from Mr. Harekrushna Mohanta, the farm's proprietor, whose dedication to organic farming radiated through his generous hospitality. Recognizing the trainees’ enthusiasm, Mr. Mohanta made their visit a priority, fostering an atmosphere of encouragement and collaborative learning. This was not just a visit—it was a gateway to a deeper understanding of sustainable agriculture.

From the outset, the trainees were immersed in the principles and practices of organic farming. They explored essential topics such as soil health management, fertility improvement, and the integration of livestock into sustainable farming systems. As they walked through the verdant farm, experimental plots and facilities like vermicomposting units and storage structures painted a vivid picture of how these practices come to life. Each step revealed new layers of knowledge, sparking ideas and a deeper appreciation for the art and science of organic cultivation.

A highlight of the visit was the candid discussions with Mr. Mohanta. His insights into the organic certification process and the growing market demand for organic produce offered trainees a broader perspective on the potential of organic farming. His expertise underscored the unique suitability of Mayurbhanj’s climate and soil for organic practices, planting the seeds of aspiration among the participants. Many left with a renewed resolve to experiment with organic methods on their own fields, starting perhaps with small-scale personal ventures.

The synergy between theory and practice made this visit truly transformative. Trainees not only gained hands-on exposure to organic farming technologies but also discovered the philosophy behind sustainable agriculture—a harmony between nature and human effort. For many, this was more than an educational trip; it was a turning point, reinforcing their confidence and passion for embracing organic farming as a way of life.

As the day drew to a close, heartfelt gratitude was exchanged. Mr. Abhimanyu Behera extended thanks to Mr. Mohanta for his invaluable mentorship and to the trainees for their active participation. The experience at Sai Sankar Farm left an indelible impression, equipping trainees with practical skills and a vision for sustainable growth in agriculture. This visit was not just an event but a catalyst for change, igniting the potential to transform the future of farming.
