Don Bosco Tech Thakurmunda recently organized an insightful guest lecture session for Batch – 10 of Accenture – 2023-24, focused on the Organic Grower job role. The event, held on January 16, 2024, featured Ms. Puspalata Sethi, an esteemed farmer from Maa Basuli Farm, Thakurmunda, as the distinguished guest lecturer.

The session commenced with a warm welcome from the domain trainer, Mr. Abhimanyu Behera, who introduced Ms. Sethi and expressed gratitude for her presence.

Ms. Sethi engaged with the trainees, shedding light on the imperative need for organic farming in today's context. She eloquently addressed the detrimental effects of chemicals in modern agriculture, emphasizing the significance of soil management and the adoption of organic techniques. Advising the trainees to embrace methods like vermi-composting, jeewamrit, and herbal sprays, Ms. Sethi highlighted their role in enhancing product quality. She strongly recommended the use of natural techniques for nutrient, pest, and disease management, and provided valuable insights into various government schemes related to organic farming.

In addition to her interactive session, Ms. Sethi delivered a comprehensive presentation on the "Technique of Organic Vegetable Production." Stressing the adverse effects of chemicals in vegetable cultivation, she urged trainees to prioritize the use of vermi-compost. In cases where vermi-composting may not be feasible, she suggested the utilization of dung-compost as a sustainable and cost-effective alternative, emphasizing its role in increasing organic carbon in the soil.

The session concluded with a vibrant question-and-answer segment, during which Ms. Sethi addressed all queries. Encouraging trainees to adopt organic production processes over modern crop farming, she emphasized the positive impact on soil health and human well-being. Mrs. Rasmita Behera, the Support Domain Trainer, expressed gratitude to Ms. Sethi for generously sharing her knowledge and contributing to the trainees' education.
