Don Bosco Tech, Thakurmunda organized 2nd guest lecturer session for Organic Grower job role under Accenture – 12 on “aim and objective of organic farming, for the better understanding on organic grower” on February 11, 2023. Mr. Jogendra Sahu Field Officer of Horticulture Department Govt. of Odisha was invited as the guest lecture.

The guest lecture began with introduced by the domain trainer Mr. Abhimanyu Behera and he heartily welcomed Mr. Jogendra Sahu to deliver the lecture.

He described how organic farming in India has its roots in traditional agricultural practices that evolved in counties, villages and farming communities. He explained how to produce crop with high nutritional value and how to maintain and improve long term fertility and sustainability of farm land.

He said the maximum extent feasible organic farming system rely upon crop rotation, crop residues, and animal manure, legumes, green manure, mineral-bearing rocks and aspects of biological pest control to maintain soil productivity and tilth to supply plant nutrients and to control insects, weeds and other pests”. Organic farming is not only helpful for fertility of soil but also improves the overall condition of human beings, animals and environment. Organic farming is widely considered to be a far more sustainable alternative when it comes to food production. The lack of pesticides and wider variety of plants enhance biodiversity and results in better soil quality and reduced pollution from fertilizer he added.

At last, there was a question answer session and he explained and responded to all queries. He has advised to trainees to adopt the process of organic way of production rather than the modern crop farming which in result deteriorates the soil and the human health. He also suggested trainees to take seriously and make it as carrier. Finally Mr. Diganta Pattnaik (Support Domain Trainer) thanked to Mr. Sahu for sharing her knowledge and taking the time out to educate the trainees
