Don Bosco Tech Thakurmunda arranged an exposure visit to Sai Mushroom Farm Satakosia, Mayurbhanj for the betterment in professional ethics of trainees. Visit was accompanied by Mr. Jagadish Prasad Swain (Domain Trainer) along with all Mushroom Grower (Batch – 11) trainees on March 21, 2023, which helped them to dream their growth and progress in the chosen job role. The students arrived at the farm, where they were greeted by Proprietor Mr. Lokanath Mohanta of Sai Mushroom Farm.

The participants were made aware of the nutritional value and market demand for mushrooms. It was a great opportunity for them to learn the farming activities. All trainees were actively involved in the visit.

Mr. Mohanta welcomed all trainees and demonstrated the oyster mushroom cultivation and briefing on all the ingredients required for the same are shared. He has briefed about mushrooms; their health advantages, and several methods for mushroom cultivation and production. Hands-on activities include preparation of grain culture and rice straw as substrate, applying cultivation techniques, harvesting, post-harvesting, packaging, and storing of mushrooms are performed.

Through this exposure, students will have better understanding of cultivation practice in general and sense of frequent and possible problems. This exposure is part of the learning process and helped in fulfilling the training requirement as per agricultural demand, to bridge the gap between class room teaching and practically made farm and professional experience.

Indeed it was a wonderful exposure for the students on practical mushrooms fields. Because of this visit trainees were gained knowledge about adoption of advanced practices in mushroom farming and the use of improved strains/spawn and farm resources. Mr. Jagadish (Trainer) and trainees of DB Tech extend their gratitude to Sai Mushroom Farm for his kind cooperation permission and support he rendered to make the visit a successful with accomplishment of objective. Trainees were very happy and were thankful to Don Bosco Tech for organizing the field trip.
