2nd Guest lecturer session for Mushroom Grower job role was successfully organized at Don Bosco Tech Thakurmunda Center on “Mushroom cultivation” on  March 15, 2023 for the student of batch – 11, Accenture 12. Mr. Manoranjan Barik owner of Maa Mangala Mushroom farm was invited as the guest lecturer.

The guest lecture began with welcome address by the domain trainer Mr. Jagadish Prasad Swain. He has introduced and welcomed Manoranjan Barik to deliver the lecture.

He started his speech by giving a brief introduction about mushroom in general. He talks about the anatomy of mushroom and explain all the different parts of mushroom (Cap, Stem, Gills, spores, annulus, volva). He proceeded to the in vitro technology by explaining how it is performed by giving examples. He also demonstrated the techniques of mushroom cultivation. He spoke about the various techniques and requirement for mushroom cultivation especially polythene method of oyster mushroom cultivation.

He also talked about the major constraints which are: farm designing, growing medium, crop management, pest and disease management, market and economy, processing and value. All the participants were presented with a mushroom block from the centre as mementos, so that they can continue growing it in their own home.

The session ended with lot of queries of students being answered successfully and the discussion made the students aware about the new carrier option in agriculture. The session also increased the entrepreneurial skills in the students.  Finally the vote of thanks was given by Mr. Diganta Pattnaik and hearty thanks to Mr. Barik in appreciation for taking the time out to educate the students.
