On 15th July 2025, as part of the World Youth Skills Day celebration, Don Bosco Tech Kollam hosted a powerful and engaging Common Guest Session that inspired trainees and reinforced the core values of skill development and personal growth. The event served not just as a celebration, but as a meaningful reflection on the evolving needs of today’s youth and their path toward a secure and fulfilling future.

The session opened with a warm welcome address by Mr. Tinu Ruben, Centre Coordinator at Don Bosco Tech Kollam, who set the stage by introducing the guest speaker and highlighting the relevance of skill-based education in today’s fast-paced world. He encouraged trainees to view skill development not as a phase, but as a lifelong journey.

The highlight of the day was the session delivered by Mr. Abraham C, an experienced professional and motivational speaker. Speaking on the topic “Youth Skill & Its Importance,” Mr. Abraham captivated the audience with his thoughtful insights on the shifting dynamics of the job market. He emphasized that technical knowledge alone is no longer enough; rather, a strong foundation in practical and adaptable skills is the key to thriving in today’s competitive environment.

What made his talk truly impactful was his focus on “Life Skills for an Individual.” He delved into essential competencies such as communication, teamwork, critical thinking, decision-making, time management, and adaptability — traits that are increasingly recognized as equally vital alongside technical expertise. Drawing from real-life stories and practical scenarios, he encouraged the students to embrace a proactive mindset and commit themselves to continuous personal and professional development.

The session was highly interactive, with students participating eagerly, asking thoughtful questions, and sharing their own perspectives. Their engagement reflected the deep connection they felt with the subject matter and the relevance it held for their own career journeys.

As the session came to a close, Ms. Shiny S, Trainer for the IT Customer Care Executive course, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, appreciating Mr. Abraham for his valuable insights and thanking all those who contributed to making the event successful.

The Common Guest Session at Don Bosco Tech Kollam was more than just a knowledge-sharing platform — it was a catalyst for motivation, self-reflection, and renewed commitment among the students. It reinforced the belief that skill development, when combined with personal growth, can truly transform lives. For every trainee present, the day became a memorable step forward in their journey toward empowerment and employability.
