The vibrant and culturally rich festival of Onam was celebrated with great enthusiasm and traditional spirit at Don Bosco Tech, Kollam, on 03rd September 2025. The event brought together students, trainers, and staff in a joyful celebration that showcased Kerala’s rich heritage through music, dance, traditional attire, and games. The atmosphere was one of unity, festivity, and cultural pride.

The program began with a welcome speech by Ms. Rabiyath, a trainee of the IT Customer Care Executive course. She warmly welcomed the dignitaries, staff, and fellow students, and spoke about the importance of Onam as a symbol of unity and prosperity. Her thoughtful words set a positive and inclusive tone for the celebration.

Following the welcome address, the felicitation was delivered by Rev. Fr. Antony Joseph, Center Director, Don Bosco Tech, Kollam. In his address, he highlighted the significance of Onam not only as a festival of harvest but also as a reminder of values such as equality, justice, and goodwill. He praised the efforts of the students and staff in organizing the event and encouraged everyone to continue fostering a spirit of togetherness.

A special highlight of the celebration was the Onam message delivered by Mr.Adithyan, a trainee of the IT Customer Care Executive course,who appeared in the traditional role of Maveli. His performance and message captured the essence of King Mahabali’s reign, symbolizing peace, prosperity, and happiness. Adithyan’s portrayal was both entertaining and thought-provoking, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

Adding further student representation, Ms. Lekshmipriya, a trainee from the Cloud Application Developer course, delivered a personal message on the meaning of Onam from a modern student's perspective. She expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to celebrate cultural traditions in an academic environment and highlighted the values of gratitude and harmony.

The cultural segment of the event brought energy and color to the stage. A group song by Mr. Balu Shaji and team, students of the IT Customer Care Executive course, featured traditional Onam melodies that resonated with the spirit of the festival. This was followed by a captivating solo dance performance by Ms. Vineetha Vinod, also from the same course, whose graceful movements brought applause from the audience.

The program continued with a vibrant group dance performed by Ms. Rabiyath and team, showcasing Kerala’s cultural richness and festive spirit. The cultural performances concluded with a melodious group song by Ms. Akshay and team, students of the Cloud Application Developer course, which created a fitting end to the artistic segment of the celebration.

In the true spirit of Onam, traditional games were organized to promote participation, fun, and community bonding. The Kasera Kali (Musical Chairs) event saw enthusiastic involvement, with Arathy and Lekshmi from the Cloud Application Developer course declared winners. In the Lemon & Spoon Race, which tested balance and focus, Prince and Ambadi from the IT Customer Care Executive course emerged victorious.

The Passing Game, requiring coordination and timing, was won by Akshay (Cloud Application Developer) and Saleena (IT Customer Care Executive). The most spirited event of the day, the Vadavalli (Tug of War), concluded with Anil and his team from a mixed group of trainees winning after a highly competitive round. These traditional games added joy and excitement to the celebration.

The Onam celebration at Don Bosco Tech, Kollam, was a remarkable success. It not only honored Kerala’s rich cultural legacy but also created a platform for students to express themselves and bond with one another. The event demonstrated the institute’s commitment to holistic development by nurturing both technical skills and cultural appreciation. It was a memorable day that brought smiles, learning, and unity to all who attended.

On the same day, a warm and heartfelt farewell ceremony was organized at Don Bosco Tech, Kollam, for the outgoing students of the Cloud Application Developer batch B1 (250220) and IT Customer Care Executive batch B2(250219). The event marked the culmination of months of dedicated learning and skill development and served as a celebration of the students’ successful completion of their training journey. Trainers and students came together to reflect on their shared experiences, express gratitude, and look ahead to the future. During the event, Ms. Bineesha B, the Cloud Application Developer trainer, addressed the students with an inspiring message, encouraging them to stay updated with emerging technologies, continuously upgrade their skills, and embrace lifelong learning as they enter the competitive IT industry. Ms. Shiny, the trainer for the IT Customer Care Executive batch, motivated the students to carry forward the values of empathy and adaptability, which are essential for success in the customer care sector. Students also shared their experiences, recalling the support they received from trainers and the collaborative learning environment that shaped their personal and professional growth. The event included cultural programs, certificate distribution, and moments of joy and emotion, marking a fitting farewell and a promising new beginning for the graduates. Both trainers spoke positively about the bright future awaiting the students and encouraged them to move forward with confidence and purpose.
