As part of the Operation Toofan Solidarity initiative, Don Bosco Tech, Kollam, organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme to educate students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to encourage them to actively contribute towards building a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Fr. Antony Joseph, SDB, Director, Don Bosco Tech, Kollam, who welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries, faculty members, staff, and students. In his address, he highlighted the importance of awareness initiatives in guiding young minds and emphasized the institution’s commitment to promoting social responsibility, ethical values, and positive life choices among students.

The programme was inaugurated by Adv. Vishnu Mohan, Hon’ble MLA of Eravipuram Constituency, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, he spoke about the growing challenges of drug abuse among youth and emphasized the need for collective efforts from educational institutions, families, and society to address this issue. He encouraged students to make responsible decisions, stay away from harmful substances, and actively participate in creating a drug-free environment.

Fr. Benjamin Pampakkal, SDB, Rector, Don Bosco Community, delivered the felicitation address. He shared valuable insights into the physical, psychological, emotional, and social consequences of drug addiction. He motivated students to develop self-discipline, maintain healthy lifestyles, and support their peers in making positive and responsible choices.

During the awareness session, Adv. Vishnu Mohan, Hon’ble MLA of Eravipuram Constituency, explained the harmful impacts of drug abuse and highlighted the importance of prevention, awareness creation, and community involvement. He encouraged students to become ambassadors of the Operation Toofan Solidarity initiative by spreading awareness among their peers and contributing to the creation of a safer and healthier society.

As part of the Operation Toofan Solidarity activities, students were divided into different groups and assigned specific areas to identify and address issues related to drug abuse. The student teams visited their selected areas and actively participated in awareness activities aimed at reducing the influence of drugs in the community. Through this initiative, students demonstrated their commitment towards social responsibility and creating a drug-free environment.

A Drug Abuse Prevention Pledge was administered by Adv. Vishnu Mohan, Hon’ble MLA of Eravipuram Constituency, during the programme. All students, staff members, and faculty members actively participated in the pledge and expressed their commitment to staying away from drugs, promoting awareness, and supporting efforts to build a drug-free society.

The programme provided an interactive platform for students to discuss their concerns, clarify doubts, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges associated with substance abuse. Faculty members, staff, and students of Don Bosco Tech, Kollam, actively participated in the session and expressed their dedication to supporting anti-drug awareness initiatives.
