Reading Day Celebration Report

Don Bosco Tech, Kollam, celebrated Reading Day on 19 June 2026 (Friday) with the active participation of trainees, trainers, and staff members. The programme was organized to promote the habit of reading and to create awareness about the importance of reading in enhancing knowledge, communication, and lifelong learning. The event commenced at 11:00 AM and witnessed enthusiastic involvement from the trainees of IT Customer Care Executive Batch B1 (260174) and Cloud Application Developer Batch B2 (260244).

As part of the celebration, the trainees were divided into five groups named Sparrow, Comrades, TVK, Centinels, and Zorona. Each group actively participated in the activities and displayed remarkable teamwork, coordination, and enthusiasm throughout the programme. The presence and encouragement of trainers and staff members further motivated the participants and contributed to the success of the event.

The first activity conducted was the "Rapid Reading Competition," which challenged participants to read as many news headlines as possible within two minutes. The activity was designed to improve reading speed, concentration, and confidence. Team TVK secured the first position by successfully reading 25 news headlines within the stipulated time, while Team Comrades secured the second position by reading 22 headlines. The competition generated excitement among the participants and encouraged them to engage more actively in reading.

The second activity, "Stage of Words," focused on enhancing vocabulary, reading comprehension, and communication skills. The participants enthusiastically showcased their language abilities and creativity during the activity. Team Zorona emerged as the winner, while Team Centinels secured the second position. The activity provided an excellent platform for trainees to express themselves and strengthen their language skills.

As the concluding activity, trainees were invited to write messages reflecting the importance of reading and lifelong learning. The messages were written on sticky notes and displayed on a designated wall, creating an inspiring Reading Day Message Wall. This activity encouraged participants to share their thoughts, experiences, and aspirations related to reading, making the celebration more meaningful and interactive.

The programme concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, where the Centre Director distributed prizes to the winners and congratulated all participants for their enthusiastic involvement. The event ended on a positive note, inspiring trainees to continue developing their reading habits and embrace lifelong learning.

The Reading Day celebration was a successful and enriching event that highlighted the significance of reading in personal and professional development. The active participation of trainees, trainers, and staff members made the programme engaging and impactful.
