Exposure Visit of Electrician Domestic Solutions job role Batch - 6 Skill To Succed 25-26
26 Mar 2026
Don Bosco Tech Thakurmunda for the Electrician Domestic Solutions (EDS) trade, an industrial exposure visit was conducted on March 26, 2026, to the Thakurmunda Electrical Sub-station. The visit aimed to provide practical knowledge and real-life exposure to the trainees of Batch 6. This visit helped them connect classroom learning with real field experience, which is an important step in becoming skilled technicians. The trainees were guided by Mr. Abhimanyu Behera (Domain Trainer), who supported them throughout the visit and made the programme successful.
The main objectives of the visit were to understand the working of 11KV control and relay panels, observe power distribution systems, learn about safety measures, and understand the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The visit also helped trainees connect domestic electrical knowledge with larger power distribution systems.
At the sub-station, the trainees were guided by Mr. Rabindra Khilar, Assistant Technician. During the visit, the following key areas were covered:
- Control and Relay Panels: Trainees observed the 11KV control and relay panels used for managing and protecting power supply lines. They learned how feeders like Thakurmunda and Kendujian are controlled and monitored.
- Safety and PPE: The guide demonstrated the importance of safety equipment such as helmets, gloves, and face shields. He explained how these protect workers from electrical hazards.
- Indicator Systems: Trainees saw different indicator lights (red, green, yellow) used to show the status of power supply (ON, OFF, or fault condition).
- Digital Energy Meters: They learned how electricity usage and load are measured in real time.
- Relay Systems: The trainees understood how relay systems automatically protect the system by cutting off power during faults like short circuits or overloads.
The visit ended with an interactive session where trainees asked questions and clarified their doubts. This showed their interest and helped them understand the system better.
Overall, the exposure visit to the Thakurmunda Sub-station was very useful and informative. It strengthened the trainees’ technical knowledge and gave them a clear understanding of how electrical systems work in real-life situations. The guidance from the field expert also helped them understand the importance of safety, discipline, and accuracy in electrical work.
