DB Tech Tree Initiative – 20 Years of DB Tech Celebrations

As part of the DB Tech Tree Initiative – Plant 20 Trees, celebrating 20 Years of Don Bosco Tech, Don Bosco Tech–Thakurmunda organised a Tree Plantation Programme at the centre premises entrance road. The programme aimed to promote environmental awareness, sustainability, and active participation of trainees, while marking two decades of DB Tech’s commitment to youth empowerment and social development.

The programme was graced by Mr. Sarat Kumar Tripathy. Staff members and trainees of Don Bosco Tech–Thakurmunda actively participated in the plantation drive.

The programme commenced with a brief welcome and an introduction to the DB Tech Tree Initiative, during which the significance of tree plantation and environmental conservation was shared with the trainees.

As part of the drive, a total of 20 saplings were planted, fulfilling the target under the DB Tech Tree Initiative. The plantation included a mix of local, medicinal, and shade-giving trees, as detailed below:

  • Mango: 4 saplings
  • Gmelina arborea (Gambhari / White Teak): 5 saplings
  • Mimusops elengi (Baula / Spanish Cherry): 4 saplings
  • Neem: 6 saplings
  • Decorative plant: 1 sapling

All participants, including the guest, staff members, and trainees, actively took part in planting the saplings, symbolising collective responsibility towards protecting nature.

Arrangements have been made by the centre for the regular watering, protection, and maintenance of the saplings to ensure their healthy growth and long-term survival.

The Tree Plantation Programme was successfully conducted under the banner “DB Tech Tree – 20 Years of DB Tech”. The activity created a positive environmental impact and reinforced the importance of sustainability among trainees. The initiative stands as a meaningful contribution by Don Bosco Tech–Thakurmunda towards celebrating 20 Years of DB Tech.
