Purpose: Community Outreach Day / Skill Demo Activity to mark the DB Tech 20 Years Celebration

Introduction

On 11 December 2025, the Don Bosco Tech Sambalpur Centre team conducted a Community Outreach Day/Skill Demo activity at Gadmunda Village, Hirakud. The aim of this visit was to introduce local youth to the importance of skill-based training and the career opportunities offered through our centre.

This activity was part of the DB Tech 20 Years Celebration, intended to spread awareness, motivate young individuals, and guide them toward structured skill development pathways.

Participants

The program was facilitated by Sr. Sarita Kujur, supported by centre staff members:
Mr. Dillip Kumar Behera, Sarada Prasad Nanda, Lalgopal Nanda, Isaka Pradhan, and Dolagovinda Bishoyi.

Trainees from all job roles also joined the visit and actively supported the demonstrations. Their participation helped create a relatable, engaging, and encouraging environment for the village youth.

A total of 35 local community members and youth participated in the event.

Key Discussions

During the session, the team highlighted:

  • The importance of professional skills in today’s job market.
  • How skill development helps youth build a strong and sustainable career.
  • The role of vocational training in achieving financial stability, employment readiness, and long-term growth.

Participants were introduced to the three major job roles offered at our centre. Trainees demonstrated a variety of hands-on training activities in front of the community.

Job Roles Presented:

  1. Guest Service Associate (Food & Beverage)
  2. Graphic Designer
  3. IT Customer Care Executive

For each job role, the team provided:

  • A brief explanation of the course syllabus, training duration, and learning modules.
  • Simple practical demonstrations to help participants understand the nature of work.
  • Details on career pathways and job opportunities available after completing the course.

Future Growth Opportunities

The team explained how completing these courses can help young people:

  • Access better employment opportunities locally and nationally.
  • Improve their financial condition and support their families.
  • Develop essential personal and professional qualities such as communication, discipline, and confidence.
  • Build a long-term career through continuous learning and upskilling.

Closing Remarks

The visit concluded with motivating words from the Centre Head, who encouraged the youth to avail themselves of the free skill training opportunities. The team invited them to visit the centre, interact with trainers, and enroll in upcoming batches.

Youth were encouraged to believe in their potential and work toward a brighter future.

Conclusion

The Community Outreach Day/Skill Demo activity at Gadmunda Village was highly successful. The youth participated actively and showed curiosity and enthusiasm in learning about various skill training options.
