On Saturday, October 26, 2022, the Don Bosco Tech Society (DB Tech) organized an insightful and engaging one-day field visit to Tompy Market in Jandiala Manjki for the E-Commerce students. A group of 17 eager students, accompanied by their domain trainer Mr. Robin, embarked on this educational journey at 12 pm from the center.

Upon arrival at the bustling market, the students immersed themselves in the vibrant atmosphere, keen to understand the interplay between modern and traditional business practices. Their curiosity was piqued as they interacted with shopkeepers and observed firsthand the seamless integration of technology in everyday trading activities.

Mr. Robin provided valuable insights into the world of E-Commerce, explaining that it involves the buying and selling of goods or services over the Internet. He highlighted that E-Commerce encompasses a wide array of data, systems, and tools designed to facilitate online transactions, including mobile shopping and encrypted online payments.

At the billing section, the students witnessed the widespread adoption of digital payment methods. The cashier demonstrated how to receive money online and introduced secure applications like Google Pay and Paytm for digital transactions. The students were fascinated to see numerous customers opting for contactless payments.

Intrigued by this trend, one of the trainees conversed with a customer to understand the growing popularity of digital payments. The customer explained, “Carrying cash has become cumbersome, and it's much easier to pay without physical money or ATM cards. QR code payments are especially convenient.”

The field visit proved to be an enriching experience, providing the students with a deeper understanding of the digital transformation in commerce. The group left the market around 1:30 pm, brimming with new-found knowledge and a greater appreciation for the evolving landscape of E-Commerce.
